So many great ideas are never realised or commercialised. While large companies have the resources to get patents as they like, individuals who come up with great ideas seldom have the money (or the time) to go through the process. In the end to avoid giving away their idea, the idea simply never sees the light of day.
Another issue is the thousands of patents large organisations file every year just to have the patent for the event that a competitor might come up with the idea later - giving the organisation the right to sue or demand licensing. While this is clearly a great financial strategy for a large organisation, it doesn't exactly smack of 'fair play in the interest of progress and the common good' does it.
Since one can generally only claim intellectual ownership of something that is not already in the public domain, my mission is to share ideas openly (i.e. put them in the public domain) to make them freely available to whoever wants to use them and hopefully in some way make a contribution towards progress in the right direction.
My disclaimer: My intention is not to breach intellectual property laws (or any laws for that matter). Ideas I add to the blog are my own (with contributions from friends etc. I may have discussed the ideas with).
